What is "NORMAL"?

Everyone talks about the "new normal" after you lose a child. I don't believe "normal" will ever return to my house after my 18 year old son, Max, was killed in a car crash on 8/6/10. "Normal Died With Max", and this blog is about the life I have without him.

MWB - Part of Max's Talent Lives On!

I would like to officially invite all of you to next week's Heights home football game (10/29).  The half-time show will feature a tribute to my talented son who was killed in a car wreck 11 weeks ago today.  To those who loved Max - we will all sit together in the stands near the band and have printed purple ribbons to honor Max.

Tonight at the game we got a small preview of what that show will be like.  The entire band "took a knee" while the drumline played part of Max's piece, "MWB" (which was also played at his funeral, by the way).  (Pictures to follow as soon as they are posted!)  I bawled and bawled all the way through it.

The band marched back to the stands to a standing ovation, and within a few minutes, there was a huge downpour of rain and ONE GIANT BOLT OF LIGHTNING AND THUNDER, which cleared the football field and the stands.  I will forever think of thunder as a sign of God's faithfulness to my family (see previous note about thunder during Max's viewing), and it was almost like Max was playing back to the band saying "Good job, guys"!!  I just looked up to the sky as the rain was pouring down and praised God.

On the way home tonight, I was thanking God that part of Max's talent will forever live on in his music that he composed.  That beautiful heart, mind, and soul - captured here on earth.  Tonight, we got the news that the district IT person was able to recover all of the things Max composed electronically - WOW, what a gift, and amazing that it wasn't long lost by now!

Thank you, band, you did a fantastic job, it meant the world to this mama!!
